Moved into military service, he was used as a pioneer on the Eastern and Western fronts. His sister, Ms. Maria Abraham, had to take over the management of the company in his place. Johann Georg’s first born son KASPAR KESS took over the family business in 1865. He renewed and expanded the mill by adding a sawmill.
